The University of Western Australia (UWA) is the only university in Western Australia to be ranked in the world top 100 universities (QS World University Rankings 2024).
UWA's main campus is located in Perth, Western Australia and is home to more than 25,000 students. Perth is Australia's fourth-largest city with over two million people from a variety of cultures worldwide, a strong economy and vibrant lifestyle. Perth is one of the country's most affordable cities, the closest major Australian city to Asia, and in the same time zone as most of Asia.
UWA's Perth campus hosts research facilities, offers state-of-the-art teaching, and is one of Australia's most beautiful campuses, with its sandstone buildings surrounded by leafy gardens. UWA also has a campus in Albany, on Western Australia's south coast, with a top-notch study environment that is equipped with the latest technology.
UWA has produced two Nobel laureates, professors Barry Marshall and Robin Warren, and its researchers invest their time in major research projects that have a positive impact on the world. The university collaborates with organisations engaged in high-quality research in a number of fields, including radio astronomy, supercomputing, offshore engineering, natural gas management, plant genetics, and marine science.
The university has a thriving community scene and organises a wide variety of events and festivals. It has often been used as a location for shooting major advertisements, commercials, short films and other projects.
It is estimated that UWA graduates will contribute AUD 60 billion towards the Western Australian economy by the year 2050.
